I know what you’re thinking, “Girl what do tattoos have to do with this portfolio?!”. Well, let me explain. My best asset is my ability to distill complicated concepts into simple designs, and the thought process for my tattoo is a prime example of my skill.

My original idea was to have a Medusa-themed tattoo. However, I did not want to have a tattoo that everyone had.

From there, I thought about different ways to represent Medusa. I decided I wanted snakes around the top of a Venus symbol as it would still be a female with a head of snakes, but this idea required too much detail for a tattoo.

Then, I saw someone with a sword tattoo that I loved, and it caused me to redirect my thought process.

From there, I thought, why not turn the Venus symbol into a sword to represent a woman being powerful, then have one snake wrapping around the sword for protection, like the Medusa tattoo is supposed to represent?

My ability to take broad concepts and refine them into something more digestible is central to my creative process. By simplifying the Medusa idea into a design that balances power and protection, I could maintain its essence while making it more unique and meaningful. Whether in tattoo design or ad creation, I always want to refine my ideas, making them cooler, cleaner, and easier to understand.
